ZAK ENGEL is a recording and visual artist, composer, and music producer. In addition to many film and television scores, he is known for his solo albums as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

Recent film and television projects include Ultrasound (Magnolia Pictures) directed by Rob Schroeder. Feature-length documentary Primera, following Chile’s recent path toward rewriting their constitution, directed by Vee Bravo. Zak co-scored—alongside Fred Warmsley—See Know Evil a biographical documentary detailing the life and legacy of fashion photographer Davide Sorrenti, directed by Charlie Curran. Zak also co-scored—alongside Jay Wadley—the first three episodes of the 2020 Netflix series The Innocence Files directed by Academy Award Winner, Roger Ross Williams.

Recent shorts include Matt Kazman's "Donkey"—a Vimeo staff pick, Ben Altarescu’s "Say Hey"—another Vimeo staff pick, and his award-winning animated film "Mi," featuring animation by Masayoshi Nakamura.

Zak was commissioned by the Kennedy Center in 2018 to compose an original score for Jared Mezzocchi’s adaptation of How to Catch a Star—Oliver Jeffers’ best-selling children’s book.

Commercial client partnerships include Apple, Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, Intel, Under Armour, The New York Times, Sony Pictures, Universal, MTV, The Fader, Bumble, IKEA, Disney, Nickelodeon, Scholastic, Peacock and Paramount.
